Pearl is the birthstone for the month of June. In some early cultures, it was said the Pearl was born when a single drop of rain fell from the heavens and became the heart of the oyster. Over time, it has become a symbol of purity and innocence and is often worn by brides.

Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. It is also on the modern list of gift ideas for the 16th wedding anniversary, alongside the traditional gift of wax.

A compassionate stone, Peridot is believed to bring good health, peace and restful sleep. In ancient times, it was believed to keep away evil spirits but is now more widely known for attracting love, reducing stress and calming anger.

This fresh green stone is the national gem of Egypt and the ancient Egyptians referred to it as the gem of the sun. Also referred to as Olivine – or Olivina – you will find this stone popular in the Canary Islands and can often pick it up on some beaches in its raw state.

Supplied in a gift box.

Caring for your jewellery

• All jewellery is best stored in individual boxes or soft bags. This prevents scratches and also in some cases lessens tarnishing. Silver jewellery will benefit from being kept in a sealed, clear, plastic bag with an anti-tarnish strip enclosed.

• Chlorinated water causes surface damage! It is best to remove all jewellery before using swimming pools, hot tubs, etc.

• Spray hairspray, perfume, etc. before you put on your jewellery as these can also cause damage or, at the very least, leave a residue which will make metals and gemstones appear dull.

• Also avoid contact with domestic cleaning products.
