A substantial sterling silver bangle built around the repeating structure of a honeycomb, with small silver bees resting across its surface.
I make the honeycomb from a single strip of sterling silver, piercing the outer shape by hand before engraving the individual cells into the surface with a graver. The engraved lines are darkened to give the pattern depth and definition, allowing the geometry of the honeycomb to emerge from the silver.
The bees are made separately in fine silver clay and fired in my kiln before I position and solder each one individually onto the bangle. I particularly like that they interrupt the regular honeycomb pattern — you notice the structure first, then begin discovering the individual bees as you look around the piece.
Each bangle is individually handmade in my Leicestershire workshop and carries a UK hallmark.
